Ok. So while the movie offered up a few laughs ( I think I laughed at some parts where other people might have thought I was weird doing so) I think I'll stick with the original Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

There were some lines that were repeated from the older movie, most likely words taken directly from the novel, and that sort of annoyed me because it reminded me of everything the other is that this was not. I'm not saying it was terrible. It was alright. But I feel like some scenes tried too hard to be cool, or over the top. The Oompa loompas still sang, but I could never understand what they were saying, and the factory often looked too computer animated for my taste. I prefer the old school, real, papier maché-ish props. And as for Wonka himself, well there is no comparison. Depp's character was often annoying, though laughable, and not really quirky enough.

Alright, so that's my take and I'm sticking to it. If you are a fan of Wonka the original, or Burton then yes go see it, and make up your own mind.
