We're back!
Pictures can be found here for anyone interested. We spent one week in total away from home, which was a nice adventure. Bravely leaving Pouddy and D'orrie behind we set out for Martha's Vineyard driving through NY and MA. I was pretty excited to set foot in a new state. (4 new ones in all by the end of our trip). So the vineyard- which I think only really has one small winery for such a huge island and moniker- was gorgeous. It didn't take me long to conclude that I'm in love with the ocean. We stayed in a cute little one room cabin for four nights, and while on the island gorged on seafood, spent some quality sun time at the beach, took a sunset cruise on an old schooner and explored each coast and lighthouse. I would definitely say that I'd like to return someday, if not just for South beach and the waves.
After we left the Island, we decided (well I decided mostly) that it might be fun to visit Plymouth Rock and experience a little bit of American history. Here I was thinking that Plymouth Rock would be a cliff or some sort of physical landmark that the pilgrims landed on. Nope. It's an actual rock. A big stone resting on the shore of Plymouth. Of course it's just a symbolic reminder of the pilgrims. As someone warned us before we went, it's a bit of a joke. So putting that behind us with a chuckle or two, we headed to Providence Rhode Island to meet with friends Tod and Nursel; a couple who like us, met on Catstevens.com. Their wonderful hospitality carried us to the end of our trip on Sunday and we started the long drive home through the beautiful and green Vermont -lots of mountains=lots more driving.
It's good to be home. Paul still has another week off and school doesn't start until next Thursday, so we're still feeling good and relaxed. Now to print some pictures and plan for next year's adventure:)
